Description: Making a weekly, bi-weekly or monthly commitment, volunteers have the opportunity to work side by side with a Friendship House staff mentor. Participants would receive an orientation, training and regular debriefing sessions. The director of the mentoring program would be Bill Perkins.
Objective: To offer volunteers ministry opportunities in hospitality and sanctuary that emphasize personal interaction over task performance or problem solving.
To reflect critically on the Beatitude spirituality of Jesus in midst of the poverty, pain and hopelessness confronting many of our more wounded brothers and sisters.
Participation: Friendship House has developed a volunteer corps of over one hundred members who commit at least five hours of interactive service monthly at either its Day Centers, Winter Weekend Sanctuaries, Transitional Housing Programs or Andrew’s Place.
